Catalogue Entry

This cup was blown and molded from translucent glass and then a foot was attached to the cup body. The cuts are arranged in five ranks that circle the vessel and have, working from the top rank, 31, 31, 31, 21 and 13 cuts respectively. The cuts in the top three ranks are hexagonal in shape, while the cuts in the lower two ranks are circular. The interior of the foot has a large, protruding pontil mark. Today the surface of the cup is coated in iridescence that ranges from whitish to gold in color and is beautifully suited to this full and lovely vessel shape.
