Catalogue Entry

A splashed decorative pattern of white, yellow, red and pale blue glass has been scattered over a semi-translucent blue bowl, and this glass type is called "splash glass". The decorative dots of glass are thinly fused onto the vessel walls and they have built up into thicker deposits on the base. The bowl's inner surface and mouth area has been finished with either a grinder or a file, and after the splash decoration was applied, a single cord-shaped decoration was carved around the center of the exterior of the bowl. This bowl was probably used for cosmetics or as a miscellaneous container.
