Catalogue Entry

Today this bottle is coated in a colorful iridescence layer, but originally it would have been a simple pale blue translucent glass bottle. The bottle was probably used as a container for water or wine. The free-blown shape has a body decorated with 13 pinched, raised lines. The foot was created from a wrapped coil of glass, and the mouth and neck area is decorated with thread of glass. The flat glass handle connects the body to the mouth area. The cord decoration on the neck would have probably functioned to stop drips when liquids were poured from the bottle.
