Facilities for Wheelchair Users

Amenities such as ramps and elevators make the Miho Museum’s facilities completely wheelchair-accessible, but wheelchair users may have difficulty accessing some areas. Feel free to ask for help from the staff if you encounter difficulties.

Borrowing wheelchairs Free wheelchair rentals

  • Wheelchairs are available for loan at each reception area (Reception Pavilion, Museum Building first floor, Museum Building first basement level). Inform the staff at the reception area that you require a wheelchair. One will be provided right away.
    The museum also has two wheelchairs with power lift seats enabling easier viewing of the exhibits.

Wheelchair-accessible restrooms

  • There is a wheelchair-accessible restroom (with a manual door) open to all visitors in the Reception Pavilion. There are wheelchair-accessible facilities (with manual doors) in the men’s and women’s restrooms on the first basement level of the Museum Building South Wing.
    There is a multifunctional (family) restroom (with automatic doors and ostomy facilities) on the first floor of the Museum Building North Wing.

Facilities for Visitors with Small Children

Borrowing strollers Free stroller rentals

  • Strollers are available for loan at each reception area (Reception Pavilion, Museum Building first floor, Museum Building first basement level). Inform the staff at the reception area that you require a stroller. One will be provided right away.

Breastfeeding rooms

  • Located in the Reception Pavilion (near the restroom) and on the first floor of the Museum Building North Wing (at the far right in front of the stairs).

Diaperchanging pads

  • Located in the women’s restrooms and in the breastfeeding room on the first floor of the Museum Building North Wing.

Restroom stalls with chairs for infants

  • Located in the men’s and women’s restrooms on the first floor of the Museum Building North Wing.

Children’s toilets

  • Toilets with seats for children are located in the multifunctional (family) restroom on the first floor of the Museum Building North Wing.

Other Barrier-Free Facilities

Ostomy toilet facilities

  • Located in the multifunctional (family) restroom on the first floor of the Museum Building North Wing.

Guide dogs, hearing dogs and other service dogs

  • The museum welcomes visitors accompanied by service dogs.

Writing utensils

  • Available at the reception areas.

Discounted admission

  • Visitors with a disability certificate receive a 200 yen discount on the applicable price of admission. (Admission is free for elementary and junior high school group members with disability certificates.)
